2018 Ocean Alexander 70e

Upon entering the yacht from the aft deck, the salon/galley deck has an unbroken view from the cockpit to the pilothouse windows. The galley is amidships, with an island and is fitted with high end appliances (including a wine chiller),  For dining, the 70e has an afterdeck settee with a table, a dinette next to the lower helm, and an alfresco settee on the bridge. The mid-ship master stateroom features a centerline king berth with the optional Chaise Lounge to starboard. There’s a cedar-lined walk-in closet, and the ensuite head has stone counters, twin glass sinks and an OA “crystal shower” stall with a seat and custom door.

The VIP is forward, also an ensuite, while two staterooms are off the central companionway near a hidden washer/dryer. One stateroom, with twin berths, has direct access to the day head and shower, while the other has bunks for kids. It’s a great layout for a family or two couples with children, and the crew cabin aft would work equally well for a deckhand or a teenager.

This 70e has the  tender-down option with a hydraulic teak stern platform that can carry a larger tender (which launches by lowering the platform). 

Flybridge access is via two stairwells: one from the cockpit and one from the pilothouse, providing all-weather protection. On this deck you will find a dinette and a console opposite with an Electri-Chef barbecue plus a bar, fridge and ice maker, all shaded beneath a cantilevered fiberglass hardtop. As this is the tender-down model, a wraparound seating-sunning-dining installation is aft.

The foredeck is another entertainment area with a table, couch and sun-pads. There are removable sun shades for this and aft flybridge sunning areas.

Access to systems and maintenance points is excellent in the engine room. The fuel tank is behind the forward engine bulkhead, (thus no wing tanks outboard of the engines), and the twin IPS1350 Volvo Penta pod-drives are in-line 6 cylinder engines (rather than V-10 or 12 cylinders usually found), thus outboard access to the engines is quite good. There are twin (upgraded) 23kW Kohler gensets for redundancy. Engine room access is through the crew quarters door on the transom.

As with all Ocean Alexanders, construction is strong for bluewater cruising. The builder uses full infusion with vinylester resins and marine-grade structural foam in hulls and stringers, a reinforced collision bulkhead, and exterior Alexseal polyurethane finishes. Insulation barriers, dampening materials and acoustic isolation dampen noise and vibration.

Fiberglass with infusion lamination manufacturing technology

Painted exterior surface with professional grade Alexseal polyurethane paint and epoxy based primers. Highest gloss and color retention compared with gelcoat or other paint brands. Guarantee color match by Alexseal. No fading, yellowing and minimum maintenance with no annual compounded necessary on exterior paint. For first 3 years just use soap and water (Unique OA standard feature, not an optional up-charge like competitors).

2” elliptical 316L Stainless steel handrails & stanchions, main deck. 1-1/2” on FB. Elliptical conforms better to human grip than traditional round rails. Provides greater “grip strength” for safety and comfort (Unique OA feature)

Ocean Alexander employs various techniques to reduce sound and vibration. Focusing on providing a quiet and comfortable yachting environment through various proprietary techniques of controlling sound and noise transmission.
